Salaam Baalak Trust Mumbai
Off The Street - On Their Feet!
At Salaam Baalak, we provide wholesome care for Street Children - at our Centres in Mumbai & Thane.
From movie dreams, to street teams.
The film Salaam Bombay! used the power of cinema to depict the lives of street children. As the film was made with actual street children, the film makers saw the potential in these children and created a trust to protect them.
As a direct result, the Salaam Baalak Trust was established to serve street children since 1989.
Build it & they arrive...
Nurture & they thrive.
We started in 1989, caring for a handful of children at 1 Centre. Today we provide care for over 1100 Children at 11 Centres across Mumbai & Thane.
Education.
It all begins with an education. All our children are admitted to full time schools. & are further supported with Study classes, English speaking, Computers & also Fine Arts, Sports & Yoga.
Food & Shelter.
Our centres provide a clean & comfortable haven for our children where they can play, study & rest. We serve them daily fresh, home-cooked meals filled with Nutrition & Loving Care.
Rehabilitation.
We offer Psychiatric counseling, Healthcare, Creative Workshops & even life-skills training for final job placement, so that our kids are fully prepped & ready for the real world challenges.
“We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked & homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved & uncared for is the greatest poverty.”
